Facelift

With aging, there is a decrease in the carrier proteins that form the structure of the skin covering the face, the number of carrier cells and the substances that fill the space between these cells decrease. For this reason, the skin loses its thickness, flexible structure and smooth appearance, and sometimes some color changes may occur. The skin, which has lost its elasticity and protein structure, wrinkles and sags. These problems manifest themselves most prominently on the cheeks, neck and outer parts of the eyebrows. Smoking, unhealthy life, harmful effects of the sun are the main effects that accelerate the sagging process of the skin. The general health status of the patient, the amount of sagging skin, and other facial deformations should be evaluated together and the most appropriate treatment should be decided together.

The aim of facelift surgery is to remove sagging in the cheek area, lower parts of the face and chin/neck line. As a result of the face lift operation, the patient regains a young and natural appearance. This operation can be combined with operations applied to other parts of the face (eyelid, temple-forehead lift and fat injections). Facelift with surgical operation is the method with the longest permanence, although the healing process is longer when compared to other methods.

In face lift surgery, the layers on the face are carefully opened with the incisions made from the scalp area behind the ear. The opened skin is stretched backwards and upwards, and sagging tissues are intervened. At the end of about 1 week, the sutures are removed, at the end of this period, edema on the face will disappear significantly. Post-operative pain is not very severe, it can be relieved with simple painkillers. It may take 4-6 months for the skin to settle on the face and take its final shape. In this process, physical impacts and interventions on the face should be avoided.
